You can publish subscriber content with Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. See Set Up Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.
Note When publishing a subscriber episode to Apple Podcasts through Libsyn, the only compatible file type is MP3. |
To publish a subscriber episode:
- Click New in the upper-right corner and select Episode to display the Add Episode form. See Publish an Episode.
- When subscriber content is enabled, additional options display in the Publish Episode section.
- In the Episode Type field, select one of the following options:
Free Only Your main audio will be available free to all listeners.
- A Free Episode Availability field displays.
- Select Immediately on Publish to make the free content always available.
- Select Schedule Episode to add a start date. You can also add an end date or limit the media availability so it cannot be accessed before the scheduled publication date. See Schedule a Date to Publish Your Episode.
Subscriber Only Your main audio will not be submitted on your feed. It will only be submitted through Apple as a subscriber episode, and only available to listeners who have subscribed to your content with the Apple Podcasts app.
- A Subscriber Episode Availability field replaces the Free Availability field.
- Select Immediately on Publish to make the subscriber content available right away.
- Select Schedule Episode to add a start date and (optionally) an end date.
Free and Subscriber Your main audio will be served as a free episode via your RSS feed. Optionally, you can add a subscriber audio file that will be served to your paying subscribers. Your subscribers will get the free episode when a subscriber audio file is not available.
- A Free Episode Availability field displays.
- Select Immediately on Publish to make the free content available right away.
- Select Schedule Episode to add a start date. You can also add an end date or limit the media availability so it cannot be accessed before the scheduled publication date. See Schedule a Date to Publish Your Episode.
- A Subscriber Episode Availability field displays.
- Select Immediately on Publish to make the subscriber content always available.
- Select Schedule Episode to add a start date and (optionally) an end date.
- Click Add Subscriber Audio to upload your subscriber media file.
- Your subscriber audio file must have a different name than your main audio file.
- You can set the release dates so your paying subscribers can listen to your episode earlier.
- Your subscriber audio file could include extra content, or the entire episode could be a bonus episode.
- Subscriber audio will not include Auto Ads or dynamically inserted ads. You should upload a second audio file if the main audio file has baked-in ads that you do not want to serve to subscribers.
- A Free Episode Availability field displays.
- Click Save as Draft (see Save Your Episode as a Draft to Publish It Later) or Publish.
After you publish, your subscriber episodes are distributed to Apple Podcasts Connect with the availability you specified.
Note
If you've been using Apple Podcasts Connect to upload subscriber episodes, you won’t see them in the Libsyn dashboard, but they are still available on Apple Podcasts. After you've begun publishing subscriber audio with Libsyn, we recommend that you continue to publish only through Libsyn to avoid confusion.
