When you set up your show in Libsyn, all the information you enter becomes part of your main RSS feed. This feed is called the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed, and it's used by directories like Apple Podcasts to list your show in their app and publish your episodes.
Note To learn more about RSS feeds, see Understand Your RSS Feed. |
However, the information you enter when you set up your show is also used in the other publication destinations that you set up in Libsyn, such as Spotify, Deezer, iHeart Radio, and more. Customizing your Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed gives you the option to change some of the information in your RSS feed without affecting any of the other destinations that are using the information you entered when you set up your show.
For example, if you want a directory like Apple Podcasts to display a different show description than the one you entered in show settings, you can update the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed. Doing so affects Apple Podcasts (and any other shows that use the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed), but not the rest of your publication destinations.
If you have more than one show, remember to select the right one before you make changes. Then, to update your Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed:
- Click the icon in the top of your Libsyn account to display the Settings page.
- Click Destinations.
- In the Destinations table, click Edit in the row for Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed.
- You can click the icon to copy your Feed URL to your clipboard.
-
Only enter information in the RSS Feed Overrides section if you want your show title, author, or show description to be different in the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed than what you entered when you set up your show. Leave these fields blank if you want to use the same information you entered in your podcast settings.
Important
If you add information in the RSS Feed Overrides section, the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed uses that information to replace the information in your podcast settings. If you ever change your title, authors, or description in podcast settings, those changes will not show up in the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed as long as there is information in the RSS Feed Override fields.
- Click the button that displays:
- Save - Your changes are saved.
- Next - See Submit Your Show to Apple Podcasts.
