We'd hate to see you leave Libsyn, but if you decide to do so, you can close your podcast to cancel its monthly subscription charge. If you are simply taking a break — whether for seasonality or a temporary change in your circumstances — you can choose to pause your account once per year by following the prompts below.
|
Tip If you are struggling with how to publish in Libsyn check out our video playlist for podcasters or join one of our upcoming Live Q&As with our support team. |
To pause or close your podcast:
- Log in to your Dashboard on Libsyn 5.
- Click the Show selector in the upper-left of your Libsyn 5 account and select the show you want to manage.
- Click the
icon in the upper-right and select Billing to open the Billing and Subscriptions page.
- Click Cancel Subscription in the Your Subscription section.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and choose one of the following options:
- Pause Show to temporarily pause your podcast.
- Cancel Plan to permanently close your podcast.
If you pause your podcast:
Pausing your podcast temporarily disables the show for up to three months. During this time, no actions can be taken on the show, including uploading new content. You may return at any time during the pause period to resume the show.
At the end of the three-month pause period, the show will automatically resume and regular billing will restart using the payment method on file unless the show is resumed or closed before the pause period expires.
If you close your podcast:
Closing your podcast stops any future billing for the show. The show will be taken offline after the billing period ends. Once the show is fully closed, your content may be removed from Libsyn’s servers. You may also be prompted to complete a short survey to share feedback.
Things to Think About Before Closing Your Account
Closing your account is a big step. To ensure a smooth transition, consider the following:
Your Podcast Media
- After closing your account, your episodes will disappear from podcast apps unless you've migrated your feed to another host. Transfers can take anywhere from days to weeks; please check with your new host for their specific timelines.
- For quick removal, please contact the podcast app directly to request a content takedown.
- Download and save your final episode files and consider backing up show notes and metadata from your podcast website.
- If you embedded the Libsyn Podcast Player on your site it will also stop working with the closure of your account and podcast. Please take steps to address this issue as we can not automatically remove them.
- If you are moving your podcast to a new host, we recommend you upload your content to your new host and add a redirect that points to your new RSS feed before closing your podcast with Libsyn.
- You may also want to export your show stats and invoices for your own records.
Payments & Earnings
If you haven't activated Automatic Podcast Ads or PodRoll, these could help you earn passive income on older episodes if you want to keep your show available but are no longer publishing new content. If they are activated, the following payout information applies:
- Any pending payouts from Automatic Podcast Ads or PodRoll will still be processed and sent to your chosen payment method if you are owed money after closing your account. This includes any earnings from the month your account is closed.
- After account closure, you will not be able to log in to address payment issues or view your payment history. Ensure your payment information is up to date before closing your account.
- If your balance is under $20 at the time of account closure, that amount will not be paid out.
Your Listeners
- Consider releasing a short "goodbye" episode to inform your audience, provide closure, and maintain your connection with them.
Custom Domains
- If you set up a custom domain with Libsyn, you will not be able to access or manage it once your account is closed. Make changes with your registrar before closing.
Multiple Podcasts
- You must delete each podcast separately since billing is tied to each show.
We're sorry to see you go. At Libsyn, we're always working to improve our services and would love to welcome you back in the future. If you return within a year, rejoining and picking up where you left off is easy — just contact our support team and we'll help you get started again.
