We'd hate to see you leave Libsyn, but if you decide to move on, you can easily close your podcast and move to your new host. There are several steps.
Move Your Content to Your New Host
After you close your podcast with Libsyn, you won't have access to your content. That's why it's important to make sure your episodes, artwork, and everything else you want to keep has moved to your new location before you close your podcast.
Different hosts use different processes for moving content, so you should contact your new host to find out how to move your content from Libsyn to its new location.
|
Note When you set up your show, you may have chosen to have Libsyn submit your show to Apple Podcasts, in which case your feed URL is using Libsyn's Apple ID. If so, please contact Apple Podcasts Support to transfer the show ownership to your own Apple ID. Do not resubmit your show to Apple Podcasts because that will create a duplicate of your show in Apple's system. |
Point Directories from Libsyn to Your New Feed
Directories where you publish your episodes, like Apple Podcasts, get your information by pulling it from your RSS feed. These directories will continue to look for your Libsyn feed, so you have to update them to go to your new feed instead. To do so, you have to set up a redirect in Libsyn. See Add Feed and Website Redirects for Your Show.
|
Important Note that not all directories automatically update to your new feed with a redirect — you might need to manually update some directories for them to start going to your new feed. Check with your new host for assistance with any directories that don't automatically update. |
Close Your Show with Libsyn
After you have made sure that your content has moved to your new host and your redirect to your new feed is in place, you can safely close your show with Libsyn. See Close Your Podcast.
Once you close your show, your content will no longer appear in Libsyn after the last calendar day of the month, but the redirect you set up will still be active. That means that directories looking for your Libsyn feed will still get redirected to your new one, but your content — such as episodes or artwork — will no longer be available in your Libsyn account.
