If you use Feedburner to manage your RSS feed, moving to Libsyn's RSS feed is easy. After you move to Libsyn's feed, you will continue to retain control over all aspects of it, including the ability to customize it or to redirect it to another feed whenever you want. At Libsyn, you will always have 100% control over your feed.
If you are already using Libsyn, we recommend that you use Libysn's feed for two main reasons: it works better with the iOS Podcast app, and it is easier to help you if you ever encounter any issues. If something ever goes wrong with your feed, our Support Team can help you fix it. Unfortunately, we only have a limited ability to support third-party apps.
Switching from Feedburner to Libsyn is a three-step process: first you need to change the URL that Feedburner is pulling your podcast information from. Then, you need to create a new feed URL tag in Libsyn. Finally, you can delete your feed in Feedburner.
Change the URL Feedburner Is Pulling from
Feedburner works by pulling information from an already existing feed. To get started, therefore, you need to get Feedburner to pull your podcast information from your Libsyn feed instead of the feed it's currently pulling from.
- Log in to your Feedburner account.
- Under FEED TITLE, click the title of your podcast to open the configuration.
- Under the name of your show, click Edit Feed Details to open the section with the fields for your feed.
- In the Original Feed field, replace the URL that appears with the URL for your Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed.
Note
To easily find the URL for your Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed, see the "What Is the URL to my RSS feed?" section at the bottom of the Understand Your RSS Feed article.
- Click Save Feed Details.
Create a Tag for Your Feed in Libsyn
After you change the URL that Feedburner is pulling information from, you need to create a new feed URL tag in Libsyn to get Feedburner to accept the change.
- Click the icon in the top of your Libsyn account to display the Settings page.
- Click Advanced Tools.
- In the row for Feed & Website Redirects, click Edit to display the Feed & Website Redirects page.
- In the Use New Feed URL Tag field, select Yes.
- Click Save.
Delete Your Feed in Feedburner
- Log in to your Feedburner account.
- Under FEED TITLE, click the title of your podcast to open the configuration.
- Under the title of your podcast, click Delete Feed.
- In the section that opens, select the With permanent redirection check box.
Important
Make sure you select the With permanent redirection check box before you delete the feed. If the check box is not selected, the redirection to your Libsyn feed won't work correctly.
- Click Delete Feed.
Feedburner confirms that your feed has been deleted. It will then permanently redirect your feed to your new Libsyn feed, which will automatically update your directories (such as Apple Podcasts) as well as your subscribers to start using your new Libsyn feed.
