Single sign-on (SSO) is an authentication service that allows users to log in through their network or identity provider (IdP) with one set of credentials and have access to multiple applications.
If you have access to manage the Single Sign-On settings for a LibsynPro network, you can set up SSO to allow your network users to be automatically signed in to their LibsynPro account through your IdP.
Note To request access to manage the Single Sign-On settings for your network, email Support at support@libsyn.com. |
To manage the Single Sign-On settings for your network:
- Open the admin dashboard for your pro network. See View Your Pro Network Admin Dashboard.
- Click the icon in the top of your account to display the Settings page.
- Click Single Sign-On to display the Single Sign-On Settings page.
Note
- The left side of the page displays the configurations you must select in Libsyn.
- The right side of the page displays the information you must copy into fields on your idP's application.
- In the Identity Provider field, select the name of your single sign-on identity provider (idP).
- Copy the following information into your idP's application:
Identity Provider Settings (SAML 2.0) This section displays the required URLs for the particular IdP you selected in Step 4. (SAML 2.0 stands for Security Assertion Markup Language 2.0, an XML-based protocol that uses security tokens to pass information between an idP and a service provider.)
- Copy a URL (you can click the to copy a link to your clipboard).
- Paste the URL into the settings field with the corresponding label on your IdP's application.
Attributes Attributes help the system identify a user and redirect them to log in through their IdP. If a user has previously logged in with SSO, the system matches their email address to an existing user profile (see Add or Edit Users for Your Pro Network) and automatically logs them in. If the system cannot match an email address to an existing user profile, it creates a new user profile using the email address and the first and last name. It also grants this new user the default permissions you select in the Newly Created User Permissions section.
To enable this automatic user profile creation, enter the following on your IdP's application:
- For the user.firstName value, enter FirstName as the ID or name.
- For the user.lastName value, enter LastName as the ID or name.
- For the user.email value, enter Email as the ID or name.
- On your IdP's application, follow the prompts to generate a metadata URL, and copy it to your clipboard.
- On the left side of Libsyn's Single Sign-On Settings page, complete the following:
Metadata URL Copy and paste the metadata URL you generated on your IdP's application in Step 6. The metadata URL is used to match Libsyn's data with your IdP's data.
Newly Created User Permissions Select the check boxes for the permissions that you want to be granted to newly created users by default. The available permissions are:
- Create Episodes
- Edit Episodes
- Release Episodes
- Create Shows
- Edit Shows
- View Stats
- Click Save to save your changes.
After you have successfully saved your SSO settings, an Active badge displays at the top of your Single Sign-On Settings page. Your users will no longer have to sign in through the Libsyn sign-on page.
